What is Beau-lines?
Beau lines are linear depressions, "crosswise" (transverse) occur in the finger nail. They can occur after illness, trauma to the nail, and malnutrition.
Transverse lines or grooves in the nails, transverse depressions in the nail plate. Beau lines caused by the temporary cessation of cell division in the proximal nail matrix. The state may by local disease of the nail fold, physical trauma, or systemic insult, such as a disease or a drug caused such as chemotherapy. Named after the distinguished French physician Joseph Honoré Simon Beau (1806-1865), who described this phenomenon in 1846.
Also known as Beau-Reil cross furrows. Johann Christian Reil (1759-1813), German anatomist, physiologist and physician to the poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe described the same lines on the nails in 1796, half a century before Beau.What are the causes of Beau lines?
Beau lines may malfunction due to trauma, disease, malnutrition or any major metabolic condition, chemotherapy or other damaging event caused, and is the result of an interruption in the protein formation of the nail plate.
They develop in response to many diseases, mellitus, such as syphilis, uncontrolled diabetes, myocarditis, peripheral arterial occlusive disease, and zinc deficiency and disease accompanied by high fever, such as scarlet fever, measles, mumps, and pneumonia.The symptoms of Beau lines?

    
* Yellowing, thickening agents or crumbling of the nail.
    
* Pain along the edges of the toenail.
    
* Discoloration under the nail may occur as a result of secondary infection.

* Wash your feet regularly and dry them thoroughly when they get wet.
    
* Wearing nail polish on the toes is not advisable because it can seal in fungus.
